Rossmoor Houses for Sale

Some of the most beautiful homes around!

Rossmoor, still the largest single development in Orange County, was the first walled community in the United States. Though often mistakenly thought to be part of Los Alamitos, Rossmoor is an unincorporated census-designated place. It consists of roughly 3,500 households – from condominiums to million dollar homes. There are a number of terrific public parks within the walled community – Little Cottonwoods Park, Rossmoor Park and Rush Park to name a few. Many of its services are shared with neighboring Los Alamitos, including being home to a few of the Los Al schools.

Things to See and Do

Special Events and More

Not only does Rossmoor share services with Los Alamitos, but many of the community events are attended by them. Among their biggest events are the Race On The Base and their 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular. Both are held on the Joint Forces Training Base and both attract very large crowds! There is something for everyone at these events so bring all your family and friends! They also sponsor a Spring Carnival and Easter Egg Hunt, a Halloween Trunk or Treat and more events throughout the year.

Rossmoor is close to three major freeways (the 405, 605 and 91) which makes it a breeze to get anywhere you might want to go in Southern California. If you prefer to avoid freeways, we’re still less than 20 minutes away from Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, or our gorgeous local beaches.

If getting close to nature is appealing to you, you have a number of places to choose from: you can drive down to the beach and enjoy the Seal Beach National Wildlife Refuge or Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve or you can go to the nearby El Dorado Nature Center. Also, the Aquarium of the Pacific is a short drive from here.

Great schools and Terrific Dining

In addition to the privacy of a walled community, one of the things that draws many people to Rossmoor is the great schools. From elementary school through high school, Rossmoor schools achieve the highest ratings from All of the elementary schools scored 9-10/10 including Los Alamitos Elementary, Jack L. Weaver Elementary, Rossmoor Elementary, Richard Henry Lee Elementary, and Francis Hopkinson Elementary – no matter where your child goes for their k-5 education, you can rest assured that they are getting a top notch education! Your two main choices for middle school, Oak Middle School and Sharon Christa Mcaullife Middle School, both receive 9/10 scores which places them far above state average. The high school, Los Alamitos High School, is highly prized for not only academic excellence but also for its winning athletic programs and nationally recognized arts programs.

There are so many great places to eat around Rossmoor that I can’t possibly get to all of them here but I just want to mention a few of my favorites. For steak and seafood, my favorite is The Original Fish Company – try the clam chowder, it’s the best around! For a great lunch or dinner with a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere, you have to check out Shenandoah at the Arbor – eating on their patio feels like you’re on vacation. I also love the food at Thailusion, you get great tasting, healthy food. For some of the best Chinese food around go to Fortune Cookies Restaurant. One of my quirkier favorites is Pasty Kitchen – they provide British chicken or beef meat pies and fruit pies. Their menu is very limited and you can only pay by cash but their pasties are a hearty meal by themselves and their prices are very reasonable.
