This is a great place to call home! (I know because I live here.) It has “big city” amenities but with a small town, community feel. We have the Christmas tree lighting at city hall and summer concerts in the park but my favorite is the our Community Festival – the largest one day community festival in Orange County! There you can enjoy the chili cookoff, local vendors, two stages with various performers, a car show and more! Check it out here.
Also, it’s home to some of THE best schools around, including the prestigious Oxford Academy which is one of the top schools in the entire country!
As you stroll through one of the many parks in our city, you’ll encounter lots of friendly people and things to do – whether it’s volleyball, basketball, skateboarding, kite flying or just picnicking – there’s something for everyone at our well maintained city parks.
Location, Location, Location!!! One of the things I love most about living here is its central location – it’s close to three major freeways (the 405, 605 and 91) which makes it a breeze to get anywhere you might want to go in Southern California.
If getting close to nature is appealing to you, you have a number of places to choose from: you can drive down to the beach and enjoy the Seal Beach National Wildlife Refuge or Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve or you can go to the nearby El Dorado Nature Center. Also, the Aquarium of the Pacific is a short drive from here.
And if your hungry but don’t want to cook, this town has a number of hidden gems just waiting for you to discover them! In addition to many chain restaurants like El Torito or Chili’s we have a wide array of independent, family-owned restaurants to satisfy all your cravings. In the mood for Mexican? I highly recommend El Zarape – but get there early, there’s usually a crowd. Craving a hearty breakfast? You’re going to want to check out Gourmet Pie & Cafe or Katella Deli. How about Italian? We’ve got that too! Try the award-winning Dominic’s Ristorante Italiano or Franco’s. And if you want the best gourmet hotdog you must go to Joe Schmoe’s. While there try one of their amazing “concretes” (frozed custard) for dessert. These are just a few of the many outstanding food options.
If you’re looking for other ideas about where to eat, let me know!
Did I mention we are known known for our top-rated schools? Don’t just take my word for it – you can see for yourself at GreatSchools.org. In fact, Oxford Academy was rated the 12th best school in the NATION!!! Also, our Community College is a great place to begin a college experience – the campus is small and compact and the professors are awesome.
It is also the corporate home to a number of prominent companies, including United Healthcare, Mary Kay Inc., Yamaha Motor Corporation, Mitsubishi Motors, Fujifilm, SitOnIt Seating and Toyo Tires to name a few.
So, if you work at any of these companies, I’d love to discuss finding you a home that’s just minutes from your work.
